Capitol police have arrested a man after Representative Nancy Mace (R-SC) reported being physically assaulted on Tuesday.

Mace, who has recently been on a crusade to ban transgender men from the women’s bathrooms in the Capitol, claimed the assault was a direct response to her advocacy.

33-year-old James McIntyre of Illinois was charged with assaulting a government official.

Tonight, the United States Capitol Police (USCP) arrested a person who is accused of assaulting a U.S. Representative,” a Capitol Police spokesperson said in a statement.

Mace sustained minor injuries, requiring a brace for her wrist and ice for her arm, but was quick to assert her resilience, stating, “Your tr*ns violence and threats on my life will only make me double down. FAFO.”

I was physically accosted at the Capitol tonight by a pro-tr*ns man. One new brace for my wrist and some ice for my arm and it’ll heal just fine.

The Capitol police arrested the guy.

Your tr*ns violence and threats on my life will only make me double down. FAFO. #HoldTheLine

Man Arrested For Assault In Nancy Mace

The incident occurred at an event hosted by the Foster Youth Caucus, where Mace was speaking. Let me repeat that – A youth caucus.

McIntyre had legally passed through security screening, suggesting the attack was deliberate rather than an impulsive act. This raises questions about security measures and the heated environment surrounding policy debates at the Capitol.

Mace’s advocacy for policies restricting men from using facilities other than their own has been met with backlash on the left.

After the election of Sarah McBride (D-DE), set to become the first openly transgender member of Congress, Mace introduced a resolution to bar transgender men from using women’s restrooms in Capitol buildings. The move has fueled protests and now, seemingly, violence.

“All the violence and threats keep proving our point. Women deserve to be safe,” the congresswoman wrote on X. “Your threats will not stop my fight for women!”

Subject Of Threats Before

Rep. Nancy Mace is no stranger to threats from the left. In 2021, her home was targeted and vandalized with anarchist symbols.

“Rhetoric has reached, I think, an all-time high. And we’ve got to take it down a notch because real words have real consequences on real people in real life,” she said at the time.

Imagine that. Mace thought the rhetoric was high then – before she was assaulted. Before the leader of her party was almost assassinated – twice.

“It doesn’t matter what your political beliefs are or your political affiliation, everyone should feel safe in their own home,” she said then.

Mace should also be able to go to work at the Capitol and not be assaulted by some lunatic protester. Keep an eye on this story and how seriously law enforcement takes this threat.
